![[Photos/Images] My Master Is Too Carefree, It's Tough... In 'Frieren: Beyond Journey's End,' Fern Shows Exasperation With an Expressionless Face, Her Guardian Skills Getting Even Sharper 1st](https://times-abema.ismcdn.jp/mwimgs/e/6/724w/img_e65c5cf3a7cce8ad64839b469a339686399419.jpg)
Not in this situation, don't display that unique elven sense of time! Episode 6 of the anime "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" charmingly depicts the contrast between Frieren (CV: Atsumi Tanezaki), who tries to maintain her otherworldly carefree pace, and Fern (CV: Kana Ichinose), who quietly shows her exasperation.
The mage Fern is Frieren's apprentice, but when it comes to daily life, she holds a position more like a guardian. She takes care of the sloppy Frieren and tends to get swept along by her antics.
During their journey, they found themselves stranded because a checkpoint was closed. However, Frieren showed no signs of concern whatsoever, and rather seemed to be in a good mood, saying, "I can finally take my time doing magical research for the first time in a while." Even when Fern stared at her intently as if wanting to say something, Frieren simply said, "What? The checkpoint isn't open, so there's nothing we can do about it," and "Alright, let's split up here. I'll go get us an inn," before quickly walking away.
Fern later obtained information that the checkpoint wouldn't open for at least another two years. While this might be just a moment for an elf, it's quite a long period for a human. Though Fern is always calm, her unpleasant feelings come through sufficiently from her poker face. The gap between the carefree Frieren and the quietly exasperated Fern creates a humorous development.
