The TV anime "Champignon Witch" (original work by Tachibana Higuchi) will begin broadcasting on TBS on Thursday, January 8th at 1:58 AM, on BS11 on Friday, January 9th at 11:00 PM, and on AT-X on Monday, January 12th at 11:00 PM. This fantasy work depicts Luna, a lonely witch living in a poisonous mushroom house deep in the forest, and the emotional fluctuations of the people around her.

Luna is feared by people because poisonous mushrooms grow on the ground where she walks, and poison is mixed into her breath and skin. The story introduces her journey to town to sell medicine, where a dreamlike encounter awaits her. In addition to the characters portrayed with delicate emotional expressions, the unique visuals woven by mushrooms and the adorable magical creatures that appear are also highlights of the series.

Luna, the protagonist of "Champignon Witch," is voiced by voice actress Haruka Shiraishi. In this article, we bring you excerpts from Shiraishi's interview, where she discusses the worldview of the work and what she was conscious of when playing Luna.

——The unique visuals of this work, with lots of mushrooms appearing and cute magical creatures, left a strong impression on me.

Shiraishi: From the moment I read the original work, I absolutely loved the character visuals. The art style is so cute, and I was captivated by each and every one of Luna-chan's expressions. It has a fairy tale-like worldview, and the way mushrooms and plants are drawn is also very adorable. I thought it would be incredibly difficult to animate this, but when I saw the PV, it was so wonderful!

——Takeshi Hama's music was also fantastical and charming.

Shiraishi: It fits the worldview perfectly, and I'm looking forward to hearing the background music in the completed main episodes. How a work's worldview is expressed through music is one of the points I enjoy when watching anime.
