'Firefly Wedding' TV Anime Adaptation Confirmed, Broadcasting on Noitamina from October - Original Creator Oreko Tachibana: "I Can't Stop Being Excited"

The TV anime adaptation of the manga "Firefly Wedding" has been confirmed and announced to broadcast on Fuji TV's "Noitamina" programming block nationwide from October 2026. Additionally, a teaser visual showing the worldview of the work has been released.

"Firefly Wedding" (original work by Oreko Tachibana) is a mad love story set in the Meiji era, depicting a contract marriage between Satoko Kirigaya, a daughter of a prestigious family, and Shimpei Goto, an assassin who adores her obsessively. It was serialized on Shogakukan's comic app "Manga ONE" and reached its final chapter in January 2026. With cumulative circulation exceeding 3.5 million copies and winning the Grand Prize at Comic Seymour's "Digital Comic Awards 2024," it boasts immense popularity.

Animation production will be handled by david production, known for working on the "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure" series among others. Takahiro Kamei has been appointed as director, and Yukiko Aikei as character designer. Original creator Tachibana commented with anticipation: "I'm really looking forward to seeing how the characters entrusted to david-san, whose action sequences are so appealing, will move on screen."

The released teaser visual was newly drawn by character designer Aikei. It depicts Shimpei covered in blood yet showing an alluring and fearless smile in the light of fireflies, alongside Satoko embodying quiet strength, creating a finish that hints at the forbidden relationship between the two.
