[Photos/Images] "DANDADAN" Original Creator Yukinobu Tatsu Reports Winning Shogakukan Manga Award, Fans Rejoice Over Commemorative Hand-Drawn Illustration 1st

Manga artist Yukinobu Tatsu updated his X account to report that he has won the "Shogakukan Manga Award" and published an illustration of his signature work "DANDADAN," attracting significant attention from fans.

"DANDADAN" is a popular manga by Yukinobu Tatsu serialized in "Shonen Jump+" with cumulative circulation exceeding 12 million copies. TV anime Season 1 aired from October to December 2024, and Season 2 is scheduled to air from July to September 2025.

The story follows Momo (CV: Shion Wakayama), a high school girl born into a family of spirit mediums, and Okarun (CV: Natsuki Hanae), her classmate and occult enthusiast. After Momo saves Okarun from class bullies, the two begin talking and face approaching supernatural phenomena in this occult battle and coming-of-age story.

Tatsu posted his joy about the award, saying "Thank you for the 'Shogakukan Manga Award'! I am very honored to receive such a prestigious award!" He also expressed his enthusiasm for future creative activities, writing "I will continue to work hard and draw works that people will find interesting."

The image posted along with his message features the "DANDADAN" characters Ken Takakura and Momo Ayase drawn on shikishi. Okarun in his transformed state and Momo making a peace sign are powerfully drawn in black pen, with the words "DANDADAN" and "PSYCHIC" designed on their respective clothing.

In response to this post, fans sent numerous congratulatory messages such as "Congratulations!" "DANDADAN always entertains me. Congratulations!" "Sincere congratulations on winning the award, DANDADAN is the best!" and "I pray for your continued success!"
