Over 1,600 Rare Production Materials Gathered! "Ghost and the Shell" Exhibition Report

GALLERY B serves as the exhibition’s main zone. Here, a vast collection of production materials—including original drawings and setting designs—unfolds alongside artworks by contemporary artists and creators who have been inspired by the Ghost in the Shell series.

In anime production, a single scene undergoes a complex series of steps before it reaches its final form. In the section dedicated to GHOST IN THE SHELL, I was struck by how the materials were organized to let visitors relive the entire creative process—ranging from original key animation and in-betweens to painted cels and even production progress charts.

The original drawings and animation director’s corrections on display feature handwritten notes from the production staff, offering a raw, behind-the-scenes look at the creative process. Hardcore anime fans will definitely want to take a closer look at these intricate details.

By purchasing a special reserved-entry ticket, visitors can also enjoy an exhibition tour guided by Tachikoma from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex via AR glasses. This experience uses modern AR technology to simulate the series' iconic "Cyberbrain" communication, making you feel as if you are truly part of the story.

As an additional paid option, visitors can also enjoy a hands-on experience of "digging up" their favorite artwork from actual cut envelopes (used in production studios) containing high-quality replicas of original drawings.
