Nao Kosaka and Kaho Fujishima of Hinatazaka46 are making their voice acting debut. In "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Tears of the Azure Sea," which will be released on February 27th, Kosaka plays Mio, a handmaiden to the original character Yura who becomes a central figure in the story, while Fujishima plays Yori.
This film is the second theatrical release in the "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime" series, whose first TV season aired in October 2018, and which has been generating buzz with the announcement that Season 4 will begin airing in 2026.
Featuring an original story, this film takes place in the timeline following the Founding Festival of Tempest depicted in Season 3, which aired from April 2024. Set at the ocean for the first time in the series, audiences can enjoy Rimuru and company indulging in a resort getaway, the spectacular battle action unique to theatrical releases, and conspiracies surrounding the theatrical original character Yura.
In this article, we bring you content from our interview with Kosaka and Fujishima about the film's highlights, the characters they each played, and the "TenSura" episodes and scenes they want people to pay attention to.
——You both play Yura's handmaidens, Mio and Yori. First, what kind of character is Mio?
Kosaka: Mio has a mature appearance, or rather, she has a calm atmosphere, and I thought that's somewhat similar to myself. So when I was thinking about how to deliver my voice, it was a bit easy to imagine.
——Are there any points about Mio you'd like people to focus on?
Kosaka: While Mio has a strong core as someone who serves Lady Yura, she interacts gently with children in conversation scenes, so I think she's a character whose charm becomes visible in those ways.
——What about Yori?
Fujishima: The character Yori that I was given the opportunity to play is quite energetic and has a lively impression. I myself tend to get pretty rowdy when I'm with other members, so I think we're similar in that aspect.
When she's with Mio, she also has a bit of a younger sister vibe, and that was close to my relationship with Nao-san, so there was some overlap there (lol).
