The first cast announcement and the first PV unveiling character voices for the first time, along with character art, have been released for the new TV anime "Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia."

This work is based on a historical manga that has won numerous manga awards, including first place in the women's category of Takarajimasha's "Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2023." Set in the era of the Mongol Empire in the 13th century, it is a historical harem tale depicting the story of a girl named Shitara who struggles to survive using "knowledge" as her weapon amid a harsh fate. The TV anime is scheduled to air from July on TV Asahi's nationwide 24-station network "IMAnimation" slot and BS Asahi, with animation production handled by Science SARU, known for works such as "Dandadan."

This time, the first cast announcement reveals that Akari Sekine will play the protagonist Shitara, while veteran voice actors include Houko Kuwashima as the kind-hearted lady Fatima, Ryota Suzuki as Tolui, the fourth son of Mongol Empire Emperor Genghis Khan, and Miyu Irino as Shira, a boy living as a prisoner of the Mongol Empire. Additionally, it was announced that actor Jun Saito, who has been active in films and dramas, will make his TV anime debut as Muhammad, Fatima's son and an intelligent young boy.

Comments from the cast have also arrived alongside this announcement. Sekine, who plays Shitara, spoke about her passion for the recording, saying, "I was supported by many seniors and staff members, and I was able to take on many challenges as much as time allowed while feeling the love and passion for this work!" Saito, who plays Muhammad, reflected on his first voice acting experience, saying, "I was happy to be involved in the work among professional voice actors, and although the tension never disappeared, I learned important things."

The first PV released alongside this announcement depicts Shitara, who was lonely and without hope, being taken in by a scholar's family, encountering "knowledge," and growing, as well as the moment when fate begins to move significantly due to the invasion of the Mongol Empire, creating content that foreshadows the opening of a grand story.

Furthermore, it has been decided that this work will be selected for the official competition TV Films category of the "Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2026" to be held in France from June 21 to 27, and will be officially submitted.
