TV Anime "Re:ZERO" 4th Season Pre-Broadcast! AJ2026 Stage Report Featuring Yusuke Kobayashi and Other Cast Members

AnimeJapan 2026, one of the world's largest anime events, was held at Tokyo Big Sight. On March 29th, the RED STAGE hosted a talk event just before the broadcast of the 4th season of the TV anime "Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-" (hereafter referred to as "Re:ZERO").

The anime series "Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-" (commonly known as Re:ZERO) is based on a popular novel (original work by Tappei Nagatsuki / illustrations by Shinichiro Otsuka) that has surpassed 13 million copies in total circulation worldwide (including digital editions). It's a dark fantasy where Natsuki Subaru (CV: Yusuke Kobayashi), who suddenly finds himself lost in another world, confronts harsh fate while using his ability to "Return by Death," which rewinds time when he dies.

The panelists included Yusuke Kobayashi, who plays Natsuki Subaru; Rie Takahashi, who plays Emilia; Satomi Arai, who plays Beatrice; Takuya Eguchi, who plays Julius Juukulius; Fairouz Ai, who plays Shaula; and Konomi Suzuki, who performs the opening theme song.

This event featured the announcement of story information for the first episode of the 4th season, as well as a full performance of the opening theme song by Suzuki, making it an enthusiastic stage event. Here is the official report on how it unfolded.

Shaula is a Hilarious Woman!

While this series has held stage events at AnimeJapan almost annually, this was Eguchi and Fairouz's first appearance. During the opening greetings, Eguchi revealed his feelings by saying "I'm so happy!" and Fairouz exclaimed "I'm so excited!" After the opening talk concluded, they first reviewed the 10th anniversary of Re:ZERO. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the TV anime Re:ZERO, and various projects are being rolled out.

In particular, the cast members who appeared on stage had also participated in the "Japan Premiere" held on March 7th, so they discussed the key visual that was revealed there. The visual featured main characters with a large depiction in the center asking "Who are you?" The panelists who knew the content carefully chose their words, commenting "Exactly...!"

Following that, the synopsis and preview cuts for Episode 67, which is the first episode of the 4th season, were released. Regarding the highlights of Episode 67, Eguchi commented, "It's definitely Gorgeous Tiger Reloaded. There are points that really hit you." Arai also nodded deeply and empathized, saying "You can't watch it without tears."

Additionally, regarding Shaula, the character she portrays, Fairouz mentioned that because of the character's extremely "airheaded" behavior, she often has to remind herself that Shaula is actually a "Sage," while appealing that "that gap is great." Kobayashi continued, saying "In Re:ZERO, which often has a heavy atmosphere, she's a refreshing presence," and Fairouz ultimately summarized by saying "She's a hilarious woman!"

Regarding Julius, Eguchi commented, "Through this season, I'm also coming to understand Julius myself." The other panelists empathized with Eguchi and expressed in words that "the impression of him, who seemed like a perfect existence until now, might change significantly."

The broadcast decision for the mini-anime, which has become a regular feature, was also announced. Regarding the mini-anime, Takahashi touched on the importance of its content, saying "There are many things that I think are important for watching the main series, so I hope you'll enjoy it together with the main episodes," without saying much more.
