On March 22, a special program titled "TV Anime Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3: The Culling Game Part 1 Finale Eve Special" was broadcast on ABEMA.
The program featured cast members Junya Enoki, Yūma Uchida, Mikako Komatsu, Marina Inoue, Kazuya Nakai, and Yutaka Aoyama. Together, they looked back at the fierce battles of the season and shared exclusive behind-the-scenes stories from the recording booth.
Maki x Mai Dialogue: "We Really Are Twins!"
The program first featured a segment where the "key players" of The Culling Game Part 1 discussed their respective battles.
First up were Mikako Komatsu (Maki Zen'in) and Marina Inoue (Mai Zen'in), reflecting on Episode 51, "Perfect Preparation," which depicted the collapse of the Zen'in clan. They looked back at the climax of the two sisters’ story, who, despite being twins, had remained at odds until the very end.
The scene selected by fans was "Maki and Mai’s final conversation in the mental world." Regarding this iconic moment where Mai entrusts her final wish to Maki—"Destroy everything"—Komatsu remarked, "It’s painful to watch no matter how many times I see it." Inoue added solemnly, "It was a truly special scene for us."
Reflecting on the recording, Inoue revealed her surprise: "It had been a while since I had Jujutsu Kaisen on my schedule, and when I got to the studio, it was already this scene! It felt like jumping straight into the climax." Komatsu agreed, "My heart couldn't quite keep up with the preparation. There was a lot of tension." They also noted that since the main cast (like Itadori) was absent for this specific recording, they had to build the atmosphere from scratch, mentioning that Koji Yusa (Naoya Zen'in) was instrumental in setting that tone on set.
When discussing Maki’s awakening, they praised the production quality, noting the "incredible contrast between stillness and motion" and the "stunning choreography of the combat." When asked by a viewer about their favorite scene in the entire series, both Komatsu and Inoue simultaneously answered: "Okkotsu’s 'How rude. This is pure love' line." The studio erupted in laughter as they cheered, "We really are twins!"
