The "Future GPX Cyber Formula" anime series has reached its 35th anniversary since the TV series first aired in 1991. On April 15th, it was announced that various projects, including the production of a new short anime, will be implemented.
The series, which focuses on next-generation motorsports featuring machines that incorporate cutting-edge technology such as speeds and performance far surpassing F1 and AI support, has produced a total of four OVA series since the TV series (37 episodes in total) broadcast in 1991: "Future GPX Cyber Formula 11 (Double One)" (1992), "Future GPX Cyber Formula ZERO" (1994), "Future GPX Cyber Formula SAGA" (1996), and "Future GPX Cyber Formula SIN" (1998).
The appeal of the work identified 35 years ago has not faded even from a modern perspective, and the motorsports-oriented worldview, attractive mecha designs, and thrilling hot action continue to be supported by fans as a one-of-a-kind existence.
To celebrate the series' 35th anniversary, a newly drawn 35th anniversary visual by Takahiro Yoshimatsu, who served as character designer and animation director for the TV series and OVA series "Future GPX Cyber Formula 11" and "Future GPX Cyber Formula ZERO," has been released. The commemorative visual is inspired by the TV series, which is the origin of the franchise.
