Episode 69 of the anime "Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- 4th season" has been airing since April 22. The shocking development was so intense that the original novel's author, Tappei Nagatsuki, issued a warning on X: "I recommend closing your eyes if your mental state might lose to your own imagination," sparking a wave of screams from viewers.

In Episode 69, "The Keeper of the Watchtower," Subaru Natsuki (CV: Yūsuke Kobayashi), Ram (CV: Rie Murakawa), Anastasia Hoshin (CV: Kana Ueda; identity: Eridona), and Patrasche (CV: Kōichi Sōma) were split from the rest of the group and proceeded through an underground passage.

While wandering aimlessly underground, frustration mounted, leading to a heated argument between Subaru and Ram. The dispute eventually escalated into violence. Subaru shouted, "It’s your fault! You! YOU!" as he pinned Ram down and began to strangle her. Ram retaliated with magic, causing the situation to spiral further into chaos. With Eridona and Patrasche also becoming involved, the infighting ultimately resulted in their total annihilation.

Regarding this brutal development, the internet was filled with cries such as, "I can't believe it wasn't an enemy but his own allies...", "It was a literal hellscape," "Too horrific, I’m traumatized," and "This is one of the most depressing episodes in the series' history." Original author Tappei Nagatsuki posted on X (formerly Twitter) after Part A aired, stating, "This depiction might be tough for some people, so I recommend closing your eyes if your mental state might lose to your own imagination."
