Chiikawa is a popular manga that illustrator Nagano has been posting on X (formerly Twitter) since 2020. It won the Japan Character Award 2022 and further secured the Grand Prix for two consecutive years at the Japan Character Award 2024 and 2025. The gap between the small, cute characters and the harsh world they live in has gained immense popularity among both adults and children, with its followers exceeding 4.64 million to date.

The anime Chiikawa is currently broadcasting during the Mezamashi TV segment on the Fuji TV network every Tuesday and Thursday around 7:36 AM. Additionally, the first-ever feature film for the series, Chiikawa The Movie: The Secret of the Mermaid Island, is scheduled for release on July 24, 2026.
