Set against the backdrop of the Nagaoka Festival Grand Fireworks Show—one of Japan's three major fireworks festivals that attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors annually—the anime film Kimi to Hanabi to Yakusoku to will be released on July 17. A fleeting yet painful love story connected by a single mysterious drawing, the film has unveiled its main visual alongside a main trailer featuring its theme song, vividly capturing the moments where the present, past, and future intersect.
The theme song for the film is performed by timelesz, the group to which Shōri Satō, who plays the protagonist Makoto Natsume, belongs. The newly written song "Kienai Hanabi" beautifully and movingly colors the characters' struggles, growth, and the story's conclusion, much like fireworks that bloom brilliantly in the night sky only to vanish in a fleeting moment. When the song information was pre-released on May 14, it drew significant attention, particularly from fans.
Furthermore, the main trailer featuring the song has also been released. The video opens with an impressive line from the heroine Aki Hayama, played by Nanoka Hara: "Hey, do you believe in destiny?" It vividly captures the fateful moment when Aki—who was told by her great-grandmother, "You will definitely meet Makoto Natsume one day. And he will draw a picture for you"—encounters Makoto. It also features Haru, a mysterious girl Makoto meets when he heads to Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture, chasing the mystery of Aki, who suddenly disappeared, and the fireworks drawing she left behind. The trailer depicts each character's bittersweet feelings through delicate animation as the past and future intertwine.
In addition, the main visual has been revealed. It strikingly depicts Makoto and Aki holding hands and looking up together under large fireworks that color the night sky.
Moreover, it has been decided that Rie Takahashi, known for her role as Ai in the anime Oshi No Ko, will voice the mysterious girl Haru, who was revealed for the first time in this trailer. Natsuko Yokosawa, a native of Niigata Prefecture, will voice Makoto's mother, Yukari Natsume.
