On the official X account for the anime "The Apothecary Diaries," a new visual <Chapter 2> themed around seasonal plants—a monthly tradition on "Maomao Day" (the 22nd of every month)—has been released and is creating a big buzz.

The released visual is titled "May: Japanese Iris x Jinshi and Gaoshun." Set in the pouring rain within the imperial court, it depicts Gaoshun (voiced by Katsuyuki Konishi) following closely while holding a large red traditional Japanese umbrella, and the Emperor's brother, Jinshi (voiced by Takeo Ōtsuka), gazing wistfully at the purple Japanese irises. "The Apothecary Diaries" is a mystery entertainment anime based on the blockbuster novel by Hyuganatsu. Set in the rear palace of a certain great empire, it depicts Maomao (voiced by Aoi Yūki), a young apothecary girl who becomes a poison taster, using her inherent knowledge of medicine and curiosity to solve various incidents occurring within the palace. Jinshi, a eunuch of peerless beauty (who is actually the Emperor's brother), and Gaoshun, the honest military official who supports him from the shadows, are immensely popular characters who play crucial roles in the story.
