The gap between the small, cute characters and the harsh world they inhabit has garnered widespread popularity among both adults and children, with its follower count surpassing 4.69 million to date.

The anime "Chiikawa" is currently broadcasting every Tuesday and Thursday around 7:36 AM within Fuji TV's "Mezamashi TV." Furthermore, "Chiikawa The Movie: The Secret of the Mermaid Island," the franchise's first-ever theatrical feature film, is scheduled for release on July 24, 2026.
