Main Visual & PV Unveiled for Anime "Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia"! Cast Comments Arrive from Ami Koshimizu, Hiro Shimono, and More

The main visual and the second promotional video (PV) for the anime "Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia" have been released. Furthermore, it has been announced that the broadcast will premiere on Saturday, July 4 at 11:00 PM, starting with a 1-hour special featuring the first two episodes consecutively, on TV Asahi's 24 affiliated stations nationwide under the “IMAnimation” block, BS Asahi, and other networks.

Along with this, information regarding the second wave of cast members and their characters, as well as cast comments, have been unveiled, featuring Ami Koshimizu, Hiro Shimono, Daisuke Namikawa, and Kenji Nojima. Additionally, a world premiere screening event will take place where fans can enjoy episodes 1 to 3 ahead of anyone else in the world.

This work is based on the award-winning historical manga, which won 1st place in the Female Readers Category of Takarajimasha's “Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2023” (This Manga Is Amazing!). Set in the era of the 13th-century Mongol Empire, it is a historical inner court drama depicting Shitara, a young girl who strives to survive her harsh destiny using “knowledge” as her weapon. The TV anime is scheduled to broadcast from July on TV Asahi's 24 affiliated stations nationwide under the “IMAnimation” block and BS Asahi, with animation production handled by Science SARU, known for works like “DANDADAN.”

The newly released main visual depicts Shitara and Töregene against the background of horses and sheep on the vast Mongolian plains. Newly illustrated by Kenichi Yoshida, the character designer and chief animation director, the visual hints at the two's encounter and the grand story that awaits them.

In the newly unveiled 2nd PV, Jochi (the first prince of the Mongol Empire's Emperor Genghis Khan), Chagatai (the second prince), Ögedei (the third prince), and Töregene, another protagonist of this work, make their first appearance.

Shitara, whose hometown was taken by the Empire, and Töregene, whose family was taken. Bound by a bond of revenge, the two will stir up a storm in the strongest empire on Earth, in a video that foreshadows the beginning of an epic tale.

In addition, “Stella,” a new song by SEKAI NO OWARI, who has garnered support both domestically and internationally for their unique worldview and overwhelming live performances, has been chosen as the opening theme for this anime. Composed by Nakajin with lyrics by Fukase, this song closely aligns with the grand worldview of the work and its soul-stirring story.

When I heard the completed song, I felt it was written with a deep empathy for the main characters of the story. In a world into which they were suddenly thrown, they repeatedly ask themselves who they should be—a daunting battle akin to reading the stars to find one's coordinates. This song, which sings of that as strength, will surely become a hope for someone else.
