On June 3rd, the premiere for Sgt. Frog (movie 2026) was held at Nissho Hall.

Sgt. Frog is an immensely popular manga series by manga artist Mine Yoshizaki, which has been serialized in Monthly Shonen Ace (published by KADOKAWA CORPORATION) since 1999. On April 1st, 2024, marking the 20th anniversary of the anime's broadcast launch in April 2004, a new project relaunch celebrating the 20th anniversary of the anime adaptation was announced on the official YouTube channel. Now, as part of this 20th-anniversary project, the newest movie—and the first theatrical release in 16 years since 2010—Sgt. Frog (movie 2026) is set to open nationwide on June 26th.

Kumiko Watanabe, the voice of Sergeant Keroro; Jesse (SixTONES), who plays the Keronian brothers Aruru and Deruru, original characters for this film; ano, who serves as the promotional ambassador for the Sgt. Frog anime 20th-anniversary project, performs the opening and theme songs, and also appears in the film as Researcher Robot; Shinobu Hasegawa (Sissonne), who provides the essential narration; and Yuichi Fukuda, the scriptwriter and chief director of this work, took the stage.

Welcomed by loud applause from the audience, the cast made a surprise entrance through the spectator seating area. Joined by Sergeant Keroro, along with live dubbing from Watanabe, the event officially began. Regarding how she felt about finally completing the film and standing before the audience for its world premiere—the first theatrical release in 16 years—Watanabe smiled and said, "Considering it's a 'world' premiere, for someone like me who aims to invade Pekopon, delivering it to the world is all part of the plan," showing her true Sergeant Keroro spirit, before adding, "But I am truly very happy." Jesse expressed his joy, saying, "I am incredibly happy and honored to be part of a project that has been loved for so long. It's a film where special things happen, so please look forward to it." Meanwhile, ano, a self-proclaimed fan of Sgt. Frog, showed her promotional ambassador side by stating, "This series is loved around the world, so I was really looking forward to today. I hope everyone watches it a lot and spreads the word."

Next, when asked about what they paid close attention to regarding their respective roles, Watanabe recalled, "Showing myself exactly as I am. I didn't change anything from 16 years ago, and rather than trying to force it, I played the role just as I always do." Jesse, who took on his first-ever double role in this film, replied, "How to avoid letting my actual self slip out." He added, "I particularly like Deruru because his voice is quite different from my natural voice. I did my best to throw my voice out so that children would love him." Hasegawa looked back on his recording sessions, noting, "I placed importance on how to bring out my own personality. I did the narration without knowing who was playing which role, so I threw out retorts with the exact same mindset as the audience." Furthermore, ano, who handled the theme song and opening song for this film, commented, "While incorporating the daily lives of Keroro and the gang into the theme song, I also answered the director's request to include a shout." Responding to this, Chief Director Yuichi Fukuda revealed a behind-the-scenes anecdote from when he offered the gig: "I was deeply moved to see that even though the track is so bright, it functions beautifully as a message song. When I went to see ano-chan's live concert, the messages she put out there really touched my heart. I told her that I wanted to convey that kind of message to the elementary school children watching Keroro." Speaking on the film itself, he shared his true feelings: "I created this work wishing for the bond of the Keroro Platoon and the brotherly love between Aruru and Deruru to shine through."
