Famous Scenes from "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" and "Summer Wars," Plus Independent Works from Junior High! "Mamoru Hosoda’s Roots Exhibition" Report

Following this, numerous live-action video works and oil paintings from his university days at Kanazawa College of Art are also on display. Tracing the footsteps of Director Hosoda, who at one point aspired to become a contemporary artist, visitors will also find storyboards from the array of works he directed during his time at Toei Animation, making it a must-see for long-time fans.

In the section for "Wolf Children," released in 2012, visitors could also view key animation drawings of the scene where Ame and Yuki race across a snowy field, created by Toshiyuki Inoue, one of Japan's leading animators. Visitors will be able to feel the vitality of how animation is born and transformed into an actual visual work.

At the end of the exhibition, a monument replicating Chiaki Mamiya's famous line and scene from "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" was also on display.

A wide variety of original merchandise exclusive to this exhibition is on sale, and the "OZ cafe," a themed café attached to the venue, offers an original menu inspired by the works, centering on "Summer Wars."
