At the "Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2026" currently being held in France, it was announced that the manga "Fool Night" by Kasumi Yasuda will be adapted into an anime. "Fool Night" is currently serialized in Shogakukan's "Big Comic Superior." The series will be released exclusively worldwide as a Netflix series in 2026.
The animation production will be handled by a collaborative team of "Sunrise" and "Shaft." Atsushi Yukawa will serve as director, Jin Tanaka as series composition, Yōta Tsuruoka as sound director, and Tatsuya Katō as music composer.
In conjunction with this announcement, the teaser visual and teaser PV have been released. The main cast has also been revealed: Kōki Uchiyama will play the protagonist, Tōshirō Kamiya, and Minako Kotobuki will play Tōshirō's childhood friend, Yomiko Hōrai.
Furthermore, in addition to character information, a commemorative illustration and comment by the original creator, Kasumi Yasuda, have been released all at once.
