It has been announced that the anime movie "Uchū Nanchara Kotetsu-kun: Ukkari Detekita Uchūjin o Sagase!" will hit theaters on September 11. Along with this announcement, cast information, a teaser trailer, and the synopsis have been unveiled. In addition, comments have arrived from the voice cast and the original manga creator, Yuji Nishimura.
"Uchū Nanchara Kotetsu-kun" is a TV anime based on a web manga by the highly popular creator Yuji Nishimura, which originally aired from April 2021 to March 2024.
In an online survey of children aged 2–8 conducted by Takara Tomy Arts in March 2026, it ranked number one as the "space character that comes to children's minds." The story follows the protagonist, Kotetsu, who dreams of becoming an astronaut, and his friends at a space academy in a relaxed yet earnest way. All chapters of the original web manga are currently available to read for free on the official "Uchū Nanchara Kotetsu-kun" website.
The cast members from the TV anime series will reprise their roles for this film: Natsumi Fujiwara as Kotetsu, Junya Enoki as Nico, Masashi Tamaki as Lu, Ayana Taketatsu as Hikaru, Akane Yamaguchi as Otama, and Tsuyoshi Muro voicing both the Narrator and DAXA-kun.
This movie features an original story that combines re-edited anime footage with live-action space footage. The live-action segments boldly utilize real space exploration footage recorded by NHK's authentic science programs and JAXA. Crossing the boundaries between fiction and reality, the film creates an unprecedented sense of excitement and fun for children. Blending educational elements, it has been crafted into a space entertainment movie that parents and children can enjoy together.
