Manga artist Imigimuru updated his official X account to release an illustration of Anna Yanami (CV: Hikaru Tōno) from "Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines!" checking her own scent with a bewildered expression, which is drawing a lot of attention.

It all started when the official X account for "Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines!" announced the "Gagaga Novelty Fair." In this fair, customers can receive special scented bookmarks inspired by the heroines appearing in Gagaga Bunko works, with scents such as peach, rose, and osmanthus being featured.

Amidst this, Anna's inspired scent turned out to be none other than french fries. After this post, Imigimuru reacted by saying, "Isn't there one heroine whose scent is weird???" and posted the illustration in question about three hours later. The illustration depicts her in her school uniform, crossing her arms and bringing her nose close to herself, with handwritten-style text on the left side that reads, "Huh...? French fries...?" It is a piece that perfectly captures her confusion at having her scent set to french fries. By the way, speaking of Anna in the series, she is well-known as a "gluttonous heroine" who constantly makes the protagonist treat her to meals at family restaurants, devouring mountains of french fries and other food.

"Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines!" is a youth romantic comedy based on the light novel by Takibi Amamori. It depicts a chaotic, losing-streak youth story where the background high schooler protagonist, Kazuhiko Nukumizu, gets entangled with unfortunate "losing heroines" who failed to win the hearts of their crushes. The popular work won the Gagaga Award at the 15th Shogakukan Light Novel Award, and a TV anime adaptation was broadcast starting in July 2024.

In response to this post, fans reacted with comments such as, "Great footwork!", "You work so fast, Sensei!", "On the flip side, the smell of french fries is so familiar, so it gives off that 'girl next door' vibe... it really does...", and "So you're saying if I eat fries, I can taste Anna's scent (stop it)." Furthermore, the original author of the work, Amamori, also showed a reaction on social media when the bookmarks' scents were announced, saying, "French fries...?"
