It won the "Japan Character Award 2022" and went on to win the Grand Prix for two consecutive years at the "Japan Character Award 2024" and "Japan Character Award 2025." The gap between the small, cute characters and the harsh worldview has garnered immense popularity among both adults and children, with its follower count surpassing 4.81 million to date.
The anime "Chiikawa" is currently broadcasting on the Fuji TV network during "Mezamashi TV" every Tuesday and Thursday around 7:36 AM. Additionally, the first-ever theatrical film for the franchise, "Chiikawa The Movie: The Secret of the Mermaid Island," is scheduled to open on July 24.
