Even brave souls say "I want to sniff it too"!? Hameneko ascends to heaven over Yanineko's foot odor in the adorable mini-anime "Chainsmoker Cat"

TV anime "Chainsmoker Cat" released episode 17 of its mini-anime series via its official X account. It depicts the smell of Yanineko's (voiced by Yuko Natsuyoshi) feet, sending fans into a frenzy.

The video, posted with the caption "Hame's gonna sniff it too~!", features Yanineko and Hameneko (voiced by Yurie Funato). Yanineko dives headfirst into what looks like a pile of laundry Hameneko had just brought in, purring happily, "Ahh, the smell of freshly washed laundry, I can't get enough~." Hameneko protests, "Hey~! You'll get fur all over it! Come on, you sneaky beastfolk!" — yet she then picks up a sock herself, saying "Hame's gonna sniff it too~!", and takes a whiff... only to find it was a sock Yanineko had discarded. Naturally, Hameneko "ascends to heaven"... The episode comically captures a slice of the characters' everyday life.

"Chainsmoker Cat" is an anime adaptation of the manga of the same name, serialized by NyanNyanFactory in Young Magazine. Set in a world where humans and beastfolk coexist, it depicts the decadent, gritty everyday life shared by Yanineko — a self-indulgent, chain-smoking beastfolk who loves tobacco — and the quirky beastfolk who live in the same apartment building. The gap between its down-to-earth atmosphere and its adorable character designs has struck a chord with viewers, and the anime has been a huge hit, airing on TV since July 2026 and expanding into a wide range of media, including streaming on various video services.
