—What did you want to express with this cosplay?
Tsuda: Since I wear a hood, I thought shorter hair would look better balanced, so I went with a bob wig. I also made my eye color red, just like Gengar’s.
Also, Gengar’s official height is 150 cm, and that’s actually exactly my height…! The plush is small, but I went into the shoot feeling like Gengar and I were one in body and spirit!
—Please tell us about your memories with Pokémon and what you find appealing about it.
Tsuda: When I was little, it wasn’t just the anime. I played the games, collected cards, and played together with my younger brother. I really feel I grew up with Pokémon. There was even a period when I bought strategy guides with friends and did nothing but play Pokémon games (laughs).
The anime moves me so much with its bonds and growth among friends and Pokémon, and there are so many characters of all different types. I think the appeal of Pokémon is that people of any generation can enjoy it.
—If you have any announcements about your activities, please tell us.
Tsuda: After the Ikebukuro Halloween Cosplay Festival at the end of October, the next big event might already be Winter Comiket, but until then I hope to cosplay at acosta! and as many other events as I can!
At this TGS too, so many people took photos of me and I gained new followers on social media, which made me really happy! I’ll keep doing my best, so I’d be glad to have your support. Thank you very much!
—Thank you very much!
Tsuda spoke about a long and deep love for Pokémon. On another day of TGS, Tsuda also showed off a cosplay of Marie Rose from the DEAD OR ALIVE series, so please check out those photos as well.
