Incidentally, if you get caught by a mimic when you're alone, you should "use attack magic to blow it up from the inside." In Fern's recollection, Frieren, after escaping a mimic with explosion magic, had hair that looked frizzy as if she had gotten a perm.
The currently streaming anime "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" is based on the manga of the same name written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe, serialized in "Weekly Shonen Sunday." It is set in a world after the demon king has been defeated, and follows the story of Frieren, an elven mage who has lived for over 1,000 years, as she travels with her apprentice Fern and the warrior Stark (voiced by Chiaki Kobayashi) on a journey to understand humans.
The original manga has won numerous awards and received immense support and acclaim, with over 24 million copies in print across 13 volumes. The TV anime, broadcast from September 2023 to March 2024, became a massive hit, with related keywords trending on X (formerly Twitter) after each episode aired. The second season of the anime is set to air in January 2026.
