[Photos/Images] Zero Learning Ability When It Comes to Mimics... The Predictable Conclusion of "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" That Can Now Be Called a "Classic Act" 1st

The sight of Frieren getting eaten head-first by a mimic and panicking is often referred to as a "promise," "surefire," or "traditional performance." The scene from the anime "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End," where Frieren falls into the mimic's trap, is something many might find themselves wanting to watch repeatedly.

Frieren (voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki) is a highly skilled magician who defeated the Demon King alongside a hero. At the same time, she is a magic enthusiast with an interest in all things magical. Because of her eagerness to collect magical tomes, she often falls prey to mimics disguised as treasure chests and nearly gets devoured. Her tendency to try treasure chests everyone else deems suspicious, only to almost get eaten by a mimic, is a popular and classic joke among fans.

In episode 23, during the second trial of the first-class magician selection exam in a dungeon, Frieren and her group discovered a treasure chest. Her apprentice Fern (voiced by Kana Ichinose) used magic to identify it and warned that the chest was actually a mimic. However, Frieren, taking advantage of the 99% accuracy of the magic and not 100%, confidently declared, "The contents inside are precious magical tomes. My experience as a magician tells me so," and opened the chest. As expected, the chest was a mimic, and Frieren was swallowed up to her upper body.
