Born in 1992 in Nikaho City, Akita Prefecture, Tatsuki Fujimoto will be 32 years old as of 2025. He grew up in a nature-rich environment and, after graduating from Akita Prefectural Nikaho High School, attended the Fine Arts Oil Painting Course at Tohoku University of Art & Design to study oil painting.

At the age of 17, he submitted a short story titled "Niwa niha Niwa Niwatori ga Ita. " to a manga competition, which led to his encounter with Shihei Lin, who would become the editor for "Chainsaw Man." They formed a partnership and created numerous storyboards together. During university, he submitted "Love is Blind" for the 9th "Crown Newcomer Manga Prize," which received an honorable mention and was published in "Jump SQ." in 2014, marking his commercial magazine debut.

He prepared his serial debut work "Fire Punch" for serialization in "Jump SQ.," but ultimately began serializing it on "Shonen Jump+" from 2016. The first chapter drew attention on social media, garnering a lot of interest from manga fans alongside "Shonen Jump+."

When Lin, who was the editor for "Fire Punch," transferred to the editorial department of "Weekly Shonen Jump," the serialization of "Chainsaw Man" began in the magazine's 2019 issue 1. During the serialization up to issue 2 of 2021, the first part was completed, culminating in a hit work with 14 tankobon volumes released.

After the first part of "Chainsaw Man" ended, Fujimoto released one-shot stories such as "Look Back" and "Goodbye, Eri" on "Shonen Jump+," which also generated significant buzz on social media upon release. Although Fujimoto is drawing on his own unique worldview, he opted for manga instead of oil painting to "express his sensibility more straightforwardly."

When Shihei Lin first became Fujimoto's editor, he frequently communicated via email and phone. However, when Fujimoto submitted a storyboard at around 1 AM on January 1, 2012, Lin thought, "He's a highly motivated author to complete and send a storyboard right as the New Year begins." Lin also noted that Fujimoto was a new artist who didn't worry about roughness and produced a lot of work.

Though he has a very stoic side as a manga artist, what surprised Lin was the Twitter account under the name "Nagayama Koharu." Just before the serialization of "Fire Punch," Lin found this account and considered reporting a "crazy fan claiming association with Fujimoto" until Fujimoto revealed, "That's me," leaving Lin "truly shaken."

This episode gives a glimpse into Tatsuki Fujimoto's quirky side, where he created a Twitter account under the guise of his sister.

There's also web speculation that Fujimoto might be a viewer of the popular streamer Junichi Kato (also known as "Emon"), with some fans deducing this based on depictions within the "Chainsaw Man" series.

A Twitter account once managed under the name Tatsuki Fujimoto stated his favorite Ghibli movies are "Princess Mononoke" and "Spirited Away," and in documentaries related to Studio Ghibli, he listed "Thank you, Lasseter-san" and "Ponyo Was Born This Way."

Does Tatsuki Fujimoto use Twitter?

Although Tatsuki Fujimoto does not use Twitter under his own name, he has been discovered to operate a Twitter account under the guise of "Nagayama Koharu," his sister as mentioned earlier. The account is set up as being created by a third-grade elementary school girl in class and states she likes "Fire Punch" and "Chainsaw Man."

On Twitter, there's recognition among fans, with comments like, "The person behind Nagayama Koharu is actually Sensei Tatsuki Fujimoto, surprising everyone," and, "The bizarre aspect of Tatsuki Fujimoto, making a Twitter account under the guise of his third-grade sister, Nagayama Koharu."

Why was another Twitter account established; was it later deleted?

Tatsuki Fujimoto did not have a Twitter account under his name, and he had operated the "Nagayama Koharu" account. However, when the "Nagayama Koharu" account got suspended, he set up a new account under his name, Tatsuki Fujimoto.

In a tweet from Tatsuki Fujimoto's account, a screenshot was attached showing that the "Nagayama Koharu" account was suspended due to Twitter's terms of service, which require users to be over 13 years old, and "Nagayama Koharu," a supposed third-grader, wasn't. He submitted a request to lift the suspension and tweeted that he would temporarily use the Tatsuki Fujimoto account until reinstated.

To verify his identity, Fujimoto shared a rejected cut illustration from "Chainsaw Man," and Lin, his editor for "Chainsaw Man," confirmed the account's authenticity, attracting numerous followers.

Furthermore, Fujimoto stated that the account under his name was temporary and would be deleted if the "Nagayama Koharu" account was reinstated. The tweet contents were to be dispensable, mainly consisting of anime "Chainsaw Man" broadcast commentary.

On November 16, 2022, the reactivation of the "Nagayama Koharu" account was reported via editor Lin's Twitter account. As forecasted, Tatsuki Fujimoto's account was subsequently deleted.

Is Tatsuki Fujimoto a woman or a man?

Since becoming a manga artist, Fujimoto has not publicly revealed his face. However, due to a childhood photo published on one of his tankobon covers and live-action videos said to be uploaded by him on Nico Nico Douga, it is believed that Fujimoto is a man rather than a woman.

Additionally, in a promotional video on the official "Weekly Shonen Jump" YouTube channel where Fujimoto draws Sagiri Yamada Asaemon from "Hell's Paradise" (created by Yuji Kaku), although his face is not revealed, Fujimoto's arm drawing line art is shown. The arm's apparent thickness and build strongly suggest that he is male.
