Righteous Delinquent Group "Boufurin" Cast & Posters Unveiled All at Once! Koshi Mizukami and More Confirmed for Starring Roles in the Live-Action Movie "WIND BREAKER"

A Cast of the Hottest Young Actors Including Leading Man Koshi Mizukami Assembles as the Righteous Delinquent Group "Boufurin" Protecting the Town

Haruka Sakura is a lonely high schooler whose only strength is fighting. He comes to obtain the top spot at Furin High School, long feared as a delinquent nest, only to find that the students—now known as "Boufurin" (WIND BREAKER)—have transformed into guardians of the town. While bewildered, Sakura joins the members of Boufurin and plunges into battles to protect the city alongside his comrades. This action-packed entertainment kicks off this winter!

Haruka Sakura, a first-year student at Furin High School who comes from outside the city, unable to fit in due to his appearance and believing only in his fighting ability, will be played by Koshi Mizukami, who rose to the top ranks of actors after winning the Japan Academy Award for Best Leading Actor for "Ano Oka de Mata Kimi to Aetara" (If I Could Meet You Again on That Hill).

Akihiko Nirei, who is the first to admire Sakura and is poor at fighting but excels at gathering information, will be played by Taisei Kido, considered the top up-and-coming actor. Hayato Suo, a master of martial arts reminiscent of kung fu and aikido and marked by his trademark eyepatch on his right eye, will be played by Keito Tsuna, who is continuously appearing in topical works such as "Megami Kourin Before/After" and "#Shinsou wo Ohanashi Shimasu". Kyotaro Sugishita, a rough-and-tumble character who worships Hajime Umemiya, the head of Furin High, will be played by JUNON from BE:FIRST, making his serious acting debut.

Furthermore, Toma Hiragi, a senior at Furin High School and one of the Four Heavenly Kings, a warrior of Boufurin, will be played by Motoki Nakazawa, who received much attention for his excellent performance as the protagonist's younger brother in NHK's morning drama "Anpan" starring Takumi Kitamura. Hajime Umemiya, serving as the overall leader (Sodai) at the pinnacle of Furin High, will be played by Shuhei Uesugi, who gained sudden popularity for his role as Kazuma Kuwabara in the Netflix drama "Yu Yu Hakusho".

Indeed, a diverse group of the hottest actors will take on the challenge of this popular work’s live-action adaptation. The original author Satoru Nii expressed his hopes: "I had the opportunity to visit the filming site, and I was overwhelmed by the passion of the cast and staff. The action scenes were powerful and satisfying, but I also saw each actor thoughtfully engaging with and creating their own interpretations of the characters like Sakura and Umemiya. I also realized there are many ways to present things that are unique to film, which got me even more excited for the finished product."

When the live-action adaptation was announced a few days ago, it generated a huge buzz on social media, especially among fans, with comments such as "WinBre live-action! I'm simply excited!" and "Seriously?! Who's playing whom?!" Amid heightened anticipation over who would portray these beloved characters, the newly released special trailer finally unveiled the members of Boufurin.

Once known as a delinquent group that appeared in a town with deteriorating public safety, Boufurin became known as the shield of the city—WIND BREAKER. The trailer opens with Koshi Mizukami, as Haruka Sakura, declaring: "Delinquents acting like heroes? I'm going to take the top at Furin." Each character then appears in turn, unleashing waves of intense action.

Who is the threat to the city that appears in the final cut? The trailer vividly raises expectations for future developments. The biggest highlights include the barrage of roundhouse kicks exchanged between Sakura and a mysterious man, as well as the spectacular action scene where Sugishita, played by JUNON, knocks his opponent down—desk and all. The theme of the film's action is "wind."

By making full use of “wind”—a motif prominent both in the title and the original—the filming set deployed multiple special machines capable of generating explosive blasts over 25 km/h, making it hard to stand. Intense and exhilarating action scenes are filmed amidst the raging wind. The dynamic "wind action" brings a sense of movement to the film and is not to be missed!

Additionally, six character posters were released at the same time, each featuring graffiti art displaying the character’s name prominently and incorporating their character colors, resulting in cool yet pop visuals that capture each character's essence!
