Comments from Original Creator and Cast

Original Creator: Satoru Nii

I was extremely grateful when this film adaptation was proposed. I participated from the scriptwriting stage and also had the opportunity to observe filming. I was overwhelmed by the passion of the cast and crew.

The impactful action scenes were impressive, but I was especially moved by how each cast member carefully interpreted and brought to life the characters—like Sakura and Umemiya. I also realized there are many visual approaches unique to film, so after experiencing the set, I became even more eagerly anticipatory for the final product.

I’m truly happy to be able to get excited together with everyone, wondering how Sakura and the others will perform on the big screen. Thank you for your support!

This is Koshi Mizukami, who played the role of Haruka Sakura.

Basically, in this context, I am expected to write a comment to stir up your enthusiasm for watching the film or explain my reason for participating in this project.

However, as I write this, I recall what some legendary directors used to say: "I've put everything I want to say into the film." Putting my grumbling aside, I’ll just say that this is a delinquent film unique to the Reiwa era.

Compared to the delinquent movies of my own youth, both the expression and audience perception of such films have changed, making me feel the passage of time. Feeling a mix of nostalgia and the push toward a new era, every day I worked on this film alongside Sakura and the staff with the same drive as Sakura himself—I will never forget those days.

Please look forward to future updates. And my next grumbling.

When I read the original, I felt I was witnessing a completely new type of delinquent (yankee) character. I was deeply moved by how they fight to "protect" their town and its people, as well as by every word that came out of their mouths.

When I found out I would play Akihiko Nirei in this live-action film adaptation of "WIND BREAKER," I was truly happy. Of course, the action scenes are exhilarating, but the warm and heartfelt conversations among the characters are also a major highlight of the story. Please come and enjoy the charm of "WIND BREAKER" on the big screen!

I'm Keito Tsuna, proud to play the role of Hayato Suo.

I personally love the original and especially Suo, so I remember being overjoyed when I was cast. For the live-action film, I felt it was important that my performance wasn't just an imitation born from love for the original.

I focused on bringing out the meaning of this role being played specifically by me. Whenever I felt troubled, director Hagiwara was always so earnest with every actor, and I was saved many times by his guidance. I'm genuinely happy I got to create this film with everyone.

Watching the other actors bring their characters to life on set was pure joy. WINBRE, built together with passionate co-stars and crew. I hope that seeing this film in winter will warm your hearts even just a little.

When you finish watching, rather than feeling like "I want to fight," I think you'll feel like "I want to put my arm around the friend next to me." Please support "WIND BREAKER" the movie!

I am JUNON of BE:FIRST, who played Kyotaro Sugishita.

I was already a fan of "WIND BREAKER," so when I was approached for this role, I was very surprised but also honestly happy. The character Kyotaro Sugishita that I play is taciturn, seemingly ferocious, totally obedient to his leader, but at the same time, he has a bit of a comedic element. It was difficult to decide how best to portray him in live action.

Since this was my first appearance in a film, I was full of anxiety and nervousness before filming began, but I learned so much from watching the performances of my co-stars and how seriously everyone engaged with their roles.

The set was truly warm, and I felt so supported. I hope you will all come to love this work too.

Toma Hiragi is a character who, contrary to his appearance, has the kindest heart and can act for the sake of others. I acted with the mindset of being a "motherly" figure, holding together the first-years, as a good upperclassman. I’d be happy if you could cheer on Hiragi, who works hard while carrying stomach medicine, even as he's tossed about by the very unique members of Boufurin.

The film is full of unique psychological portrayals and beautiful visuals that are only possible in live action, as well as plenty of powerful action scenes.
I hope you’ll lose yourself in the world of "WIND BREAKER"!

And, since the film was shot entirely on location in Okinawa, we took on the challenge while communicating a lot with cast and staff alike, so I hope you’re looking forward to the release!

Shuhei Uesugi (Hajime Umemiya) Comment

Before filming started, Director Hagiwara and I discussed, "This film shouldn't glorify fighting or make audiences’ hearts burn with violence, but instead make viewers, as they leave the cinema, think of the people close to them and want to protect them." So, I approached the filming with all my might to protect people and places.

Umemiya's strength in accepting and trying to understand others may, to some, seem selfish, but I believe that the reason I could trust and keep moving forward with only what mattered most to me was the immense energy of the entire cast.

With the best cast, crew, environment—everything fell into place, and I think this film has a true purpose for being performed by human actors. Please watch! (All the filming scenes in the typhoon winds were truly grueling.)
