The sight of Fern relentlessly pursuing a demon far superior in power, solely with her overwhelming speed, became a major topic online immediately after the broadcast. Comments praising her strength and beauty poured in, such as, “Fern’s overwhelming aura of strength,” “It’s incredible how she overpowers everything through sheer speed, regardless of technique or experience,” “The magical battle is amazing. The anime “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End” is based on the manga of the same name, with the original story by Kanehito Yamada and art by Tsukasa Abe, currently serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday. Set in a world after the Demon King has been defeated, it tells the story of Frieren, a mage who has lived for over a thousand years, as she embarks on a journey to “learn about humanity.” The original manga has received many awards, earning high praise, and with 14 volumes released, has surpassed 24 million copies in circulation. In addition, it has been announced that a second season of the TV anime will air starting January 2026.
