This heartrending expression left a strong impression on many viewers, prompting reactions on X such as, “Aura’s face of utter despair is truly the best,” “Making ‘Aura of the Guillotine’ cut off her own head is so delightfully ironic,” and “Demons often deceive humans, but they never think they’ll be the ones deceived.”

The anime “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End” is based on the manga of the same name written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe, currently serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday. Set in a world after the Demon King has been defeated, the story follows Frieren, a mage who has lived for over a thousand years, on her journey to “understand humanity.” The original manga, widely acclaimed and winner of numerous awards, has 14 volumes published and over 30 million copies in circulation. Additionally, it has been announced that the second season of the TV anime will air starting January 2026.
