About the Tougen Anki Anime

The protagonist is a boy named Shiki Ichinose, who was living a normal life with his foster father. One day, Shiki is suddenly attacked by a mysterious man. His foster father fights to protect him and reveals that the attacker is an agent of the Momotaro Agency, people descended from Momotaro, and that Shiki himself inherited Oni blood. Following his foster father's death, Shiki learns about the long-standing conflict between the Oni Agency, an organization of Oni descendants, and the Momotaro Agency, the Momotaro descendants.

To control his Oni power and protect his place in the world, Shiki enrolls in Rasetsu Academy, an institution for training Onis. He throws himself into the fight against the Momotaro Agency alongside his classmates and fellow Oni Agency members.

Tougen Anki First Cour OP Theme: "OVERNIGHT"

The opening theme for the first cour of the Tougen Anki anime is "OVERNIGHT" by THE ORAL CIGARETTES. The lyrics and music were written by Takuya Yamanaka of THE ORAL CIGARETTES. The official Tougen Anki channel has released the non-credit opening video, allowing viewers to listen to "OVERNIGHT." Furthermore, THE ORAL CIGARETTES' official channel has released an anime-themed music video. The song features an unsettling and impactful first half, followed by a fast-paced and catchy melody.

Takuya Yamanaka of THE ORAL CIGARETTES commented, "I expressed in the song the image of the protagonist, who, even though he is far removed from his ideal self, still tries to fulfill his sense of justice. I hope this song can encourage someone so that they don't end their life just regretting, 'I wish I had been more like this...'"

He has provided theme songs for TV anime often. Tougen Anki is his fourth such contribution, following the ending theme for "Duel Masters Win: Duel Wars," the opening theme for "Too Cute Crisis," and the opening theme for "Failure Frame: I Became the Strongest and Annihilated Everything with Low-Level Spells."
