[Photos/Images] “The subtle character colors in the kimono are the best” and “Doesn't he look too much like the Head of the Zenin Clan?”: Highly praised, newly drawn Japanese-style illustrations for Jujutsu Kaisen released 1st

The official X account of SHIBUYA TSUTAYA 6th floor IP Shoten has announced the upcoming Jujutsu Kaisen anime POP UP SHOP and released newly drawn illustrations blending a traditional "Wa" (Japanese) taste, creating a major buzz among fans.

According to the account's announcement, a POP UP SHOP celebrating the 5th anniversary of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime will open on Wednesday, July 1st. In addition to a variety of new merchandise featuring these illustrations, TSUTAYA's first-ever "no-lose roulette game" will also be held.

In the released images, five characters—Kento Nanami (CV: Kenjirō Tsuda), Megumi Fushiguro (CV: Yūma Uchida), Yūji Itadori (CV: Junya Enoki), Nobara Kugisaki (CV: Asami Seto), and Satoru Gojō (CV: Yūichi Nakamura)—showcase their chic Japanese-style attire. Gojō wears his outfit loosely, draped over his shoulder without putting his right arm through the sleeve, while Fushiguro and Kugisaki strike poses holding open folding fans. Each character's image color is featured in the background, and it is impressive how those colors are subtly integrated throughout their kimono sashes (obi) and accessories.

The Jujutsu Kaisen anime is a highly popular dark fantasy series based on the manga of the same name by Gege Akutami. It depicts the fierce battles between "Jujutsu Sorcerers" who fight to exorcise "Curses" (Cursed Spirits) born from negative human emotions. Since the first season of the TV anime aired in 2020, it has gained overwhelming popularity, creating a social phenomenon both in Japan and overseas, and continues to captivate many fans with its charming characters and breathtaking battle scenes.

In response to the release of these stylish Japanese-style illustrations, fans on social media have flooded the platform with praise and excitement for each character's look, with comments such as, “Doesn't he look too much like the Head of the Zenin Clan?”, “I love how Gojo-sensei didn't put his arm through one sleeve,” “Nanamin looks so cool, like the master of some traditional inn or long-standing kimono shop,” and “The subtle character colors on the kimono are the best and suit them perfectly.”
