It won the "Japan Character Award 2022" and went on to win the Grand Prix for two consecutive years at the "Japan Character Award 2024" and "Japan Character Award 2025." The gap between the small, cute characters and the harsh world they inhabit has garnered wide popularity among both adults and children, with their follower count surpassing 4.77 million to date.
The anime "Chiikawa" is currently airing on Fuji TV's "Mezamashi TV" every Tuesday and Thursday at around 7:36 AM. Furthermore, "Chiikawa The Movie: The Secret of the Mermaid Island," the franchise's first feature film, is scheduled for release on July 24, 2026.
