— What did you want to express through this cosplay?
Maru: Every costume in Cardcaptor Sakura is a carefully chosen piece that Tomoyo-chan prepared for Sakura, so I paid special attention to the silhouette of the costume myself. To achieve that silhouette, I wore five petticoats...! For the wig, I dyed it and sewed in the strands by hand so that people would recognize Sakura at a glance. The only thing I regret is forgetting my socks...
— What do you find most appealing about Cardcaptor Sakura?
Maru: What I find appealing is simply how cute the costumes are, and how Sakura's positive attitude gives me courage. Even now, whenever something unpleasant happens, I recite the line from the series in my head, "Things will work out somehow. It'll definitely be okay," (laughs). It naturally brings up my courage, and it's like an invincible spell that gently pushes me forward. I also think it's appealing how the series portrays so many different forms of love.
— Please tell us about any upcoming activities or cosplays you'd like to try in the future.
Maru: My main focus is usually Umamusume: Pretty Derby cosplay! Regardless of genre, I want to keep creating cosplay that conveys each character's appeal. As for Cardcaptor Sakura, I'd love to shoot it together with cherry blossoms in spring (laughs)!
— Thank you very much!
Maru showed off a Cardcaptor Sakura cosplay that longtime anime fans would surely recognize without a doubt. Along with a sense of nostalgia, being reminded of the invincible spell, "It'll definitely be okay," left a strong impression.
