The anime "The Apothecary Diaries" is based on the light novel of the same name by Hyuganatsu. It has been adapted into manga by two different publishers and is a massive hit, with the combined total of the original novels and comics (including digital versions) surpassing 57 million copies. The mystery-solving dramas involving Maomao, who ends up working as a "poison taster" in the rear palace, along with the comical interactions between her and Jinshi, gained immense popularity and became a major topic of discussion. The TV anime has aired up to its second season, and the third season is scheduled for a split two-cour broadcast, with the first cour set to premiere on October 2, 2026, on the Nippon TV network. Additionally, the series' first-ever movie, "The Apothecary Diaries the Movie: Bouhi no Hihou," is scheduled to be released on December 11.
