An animated film adaptation of the manga "Credits Roll Into the Sea" has been greenlit for a 2027 release. The animation will be produced by Kyoto Animation, the studio behind "A Silent Voice" and the "Sound! Euphonium" series. Taichi Ishidate, who directed "Violet Evergarden: The Movie," will serve as the director.

The original work is a popular manga by John Tarachine, which took first place in the "Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2022" (This Manga is Amazing!) women's category. It tells the story of Umiko Chino, a 65-year-old woman who, after meeting an art student named Kai majoring in film, realizes she is "on the side of those who want to make movies" and decides to challenge herself with her first film production. The first chapter posted on X (formerly Twitter) went viral, garnering over 258,000 likes.

Along with the film announcement, a "Teaser Trailer" and a "Commemorative Visual" have been unveiled. The visual depicts Umiko holding a camera toward the sea at dawn, undeterred by her clothes getting dirty. The trailer, accompanied by the narration, "May your luggage be light, the sea you travel be rich and beautiful, may you be blessed with the wind, and move forward, forward," captures the sacredness of dedicating oneself wholeheartedly to a passion.

Regarding this film adaptation, Director Ishidate commented, "I want to face this creation with all my might and soul, striving to make it a 'kind work' where the audience can feel the effort, spirit, pride, and preciousness of those who push themselves forward." The original creator, John Tarachine, shared their thoughts, saying, "It is deeply moving to think that Umiko herself will be projected onto the very screen she has always longed for."
