I will be serving as the director for the animated feature film "Credits Roll Into the Sea."
My name is Taichi Ishidate from Kyoto Animation.
The original work is a manga, and when I first read it, I was struck by what a "kind work" it was. In adapting it into an animation, I wanted to create a film where the audience could feel that sensation even more strongly.
This story follows a 65-year-old woman challenging filmmaking for the first time.
In other words, it is a story about a protagonist facing "creation."
I believe that the act of creating is also an act of facing oneself.
Through creation, one asks: What do I want to convey? What do I want to express? Will I be satisfied? It involves involving oneself and others to confront the fundamental question: "Who am I?" This act of facing oneself is not limited to filmmaking; I believe it applies to anyone who is challenging something new.
I want to face this creation with all my might and soul, striving to make it a "kind work" where the audience can feel the effort, spirit, pride, and preciousness of those who push themselves forward.
I would be honored if you could see it in theaters upon its release.
Thank you for your support.

This is a major announcement coinciding with the release of the final volume.
An animated film adaptation by Kyoto Animation has been decided!
It feels like a dream. If I told my student-self, who was obsessed with Kyoto Animation’s works, they wouldn't believe me.
I hope you have seen the teaser trailer as well.
It is deeply moving to think that Umiko herself will be projected onto the very screen she has always longed for.
Thank you very much.
