The First "The Apothecary Diaries" Boys' Meeting Special Features Takeo Ootsuka, Katsuyuki Konishi, Tatsumaru Tachibana, and Toshiyuki Toyonaga! Discussing Character Relationships and Memorable Scenes

The special program "Kyuchu Inokori Danshikai SP" of the TV anime "The Apothecary Diaries" was streamed on ABEMA on May 16. The participants were the actors Takeo Ootsuka as Jinshi, Katsuyuki Konishi as Gaoshun, Tatsumaru Tachibana as Basen, and Toshiyuki Toyonaga as Lahan. In the series' first boys' meeting format, the cast members reflected on the second season while discussing the anime's appeal in depth.

t seems there was a conversation before the recording to "go with the vibe of an all-boys school," and the meeting kicked off with ultra-high tension. Toyonaga, who plays Lahan, a character who appeared in the just-aired episode 42, said with delight, "I've only appeared in one episode in terms of the anime broadcast, but I've also appeared a little in the opening footage, and it seems I've received reactions from viewers."

The show then moved to a segment where they reflected on "The Apothecary Diaries" so far. Viewing the relationship chart projected on the screen, Konishi remarked, "There's a lot more now! (It was) a bit simpler during the first season," showing a perspective unique to someone involved since the beginning.

Ootsuka commented on the newfound clarity of Jinshi's role, saying, "Up until now, Jinshi was a mysterious eunuch, but finally the word 'Emperor's brother Kasuigetsu' has come up." He also pointed out the intriguing future connection between Maomao and Lahan, noting that "Lakan and Lahan being adoptive father and son means (Lahan) is also family with Maomao."

Tachibana and Toyonaga, participating in the special for the first time, each discussed their characters. Tachibana affectionately described Basen as "straightforward and inflexible, but a really good guy at heart," and expressed enjoyment showcasing parent-child moments like getting a noogie from Father Gaoshun. Konishi, portraying Gaoshun, kindly commented, "He's a clumsy kid," asking viewers to support him as he tries his best, embodying a charming parent-child dynamic.

Regarding Lahan, Toyonaga revealed that he was given an impactful description: "strong in numbers, a weirdo." He also mentioned being influenced by Takuya Kirimoto, who plays Lahan's adoptive father Lahan, observing his approach on set and hoping to inherit its essence in his performance.
